I'm working on a new low/mid level zone (50 - 400)

It's in the very initial stages of development. I have 3 mission chains, 7 galaxies, one instanced uber so far and I've been attempting to try my hand at making models and texturing. Some of the galaxies (in unfinished testing state) are up on test server - Blue Royal Court and Green Royal Court. I've come to the conclusion that I really should stick to programming.

The zone is going to be based on asteroids gone crazy in a way - I want a spacey gem stone looking line of ships. Here's what I have atm as my test ai (and you'll quickly see why I need a hand doing some models and textures):

So what I need is 4 or 5 models (simple crystalline yet spaceshipy) and a few textures for said models that I'd be able to easily recolor.

We need a model for a LF, HF, Freighter and Cap ship. For the Heavy Fighter, we need 2 models.

This is the battleship Iowa. I'll try to draw a mock up tomorrow (I haven't touched my charcoals in over a decade),but basically anything kind of resembling the top of the iowa on the top face of this cut gem:

But that's basically what I'm going for. Gems with heavy artillery. But feel free to get creative here.

Thats increadible how fast and high quality your textures are james, i have blender but im not too good with it, maybe make a tutorial video sometime? :D

I haven't really got any idea what to do for the cap ship, but I was thinking something like this:

I don't know how you'd make "Gems with heavy artillery" unless the guns (the actual weapon items) have 0 tracking and high enough projectile velocity to not resemble a Thorax weapon.

Because as far as I know, it isn't possible to code (or that was Bobbo's favorite phrase to say "work") a rotating turret sitting on a moving platform. It would look weird to see bullets fly out from anywhere but the "barrel(s)".

Otherwise, we'd have tons of new Gunner Turret content.

You have a point with the guns not moving, but keep in mind this is going to be a fairly large ship to gun ratio, not like a hotrod. All the spires and towers on top in the battleship probably aren't where the bullets come out, but I'm not sure I want to continually try to name everything that is up there, so heavy artillery sounds like a good word for it. If you have a better one word description of what is sticking out of the top of the Iowa, please share. Anyway, if the bullets/lasers come out of the front of the ship, I think the stuff on top will still look fine.

And yes, moving turrets would be awesome for gunner. Alas, not yet.

The things on the Hotrod as far as I know aren't guns, as I believe the Hotrod was modeled after a landspeeder, specifically this landspeeder.

That is what the hotrod was originally modelled off, but Jeff's moving parts fetish has made it so that when you hit the space bar to shoot, the turret like part pops out. Regardless of what it used to be, seems its a turret now.

Funny, when I fire in my little Hotrod, nothing pops out. Are you using some beta client thing different than me?

Well the reason that was in 10 sec cause there was a tool to make the gem. To be fair light wave is easier the blender but it has better quality how ever with time "much longer" blender can have the same quality. But I do make model fast :)

Played a bit with some scripts in blender to get this ^^ looks like a city but texturing it would be a royal pain imo ( so many boxes).
