Hey thought I might as well post some teaser screenshots of C2. First up are suns:
Heres one to kick us off, a dark blue sun surrounded by 4 orangey/red ones (In medium graphics quality): Heres the same in Low, Medium and High settings configuration from top view: (Yeah I know Low looks bad, but thats low for yah! ) High graphics settings feature a procedural noise animation in the orangey/red suns, so a video should show them off way better (Coming up soon!). You'll notice the dark sun is the same in all three, thats because I figured it performed well enough for low but looked good enough for high, so I kept it for all. That one kinda animates and stuff so should look cooler in the video. Heres an early development shot with a particle sun and some asteroids: Heres a close up shot of an orangey sun under medium settings (Don't stare too long you'll go blind!) PS This ones taken during development so it's missing the flare that the others have: Cheers, more coming soon! _________________ newman233 wrote: Blind stop it, im running out of new boxers |

Graphics cards: Low - Hopefully anything, you can even dust off your old MX440, Integrated Intel chipsets, etc. Medium - ATI Radeon 9500, NVIDIA Geforce FX 5600 or higher. High - ATI Radeon X1300, NVIDIA Geforce 6600 or higher. Everything else: Whatever works now. That should be a rough guide as to what you need. _________________ newman233 wrote: Blind stop it, im running out of new boxers |

Is AA implemented yet? If so, mind showing a screeny with it?

i'm more or less sure this has come up, but maybe you could limit the sig display of low numbers like:
1.75861235 *10^6 to three decimals: 1.759 *10^6 still quite detailed, but not as many numbers. maybe an option for people to switch from the scientific (10^6th, ^7th, etc.) to general 0's? (0.000001) _________________ "Think of the children!" does not compute hmm, a mountain that eats people... i want one! |

The blue suns are definitely messed up.... and what about a new UI?

The suns are a bit too simple if you ask me. It's like someone tried to do something, but gave up half way. They could use more detail.
Maybe another layer on them with very small sunrays or something... for extra detail. Cause right now they are lacking. _________________ Julian wrote: In ss we fill breast implants with sand because we are to cheap to purchase silicone. Battlecruiser23 wrote: I have reasons for why I do things. |

And what about AA? omg i forgot about the new UI, lame of me.. i would guess that dark sun shifts shape instead of random evolving storms on the other suns? it looks like someone grabbed a ball of blue dough and squished it a few times. _________________ |

Actually that is a huge flaw in SS.
Nothing seems to have been done to make any of the astronomical objects remotely scientically accuarate. If suns are in proximity they will interact. Frankly you may as well put christmas trees there. The whole galaxy thing just advertises that the programmers dont have the remotest idea about astronomy. Even the names are wrong. galaxies should be solar systems, and the universe is a galaxy. Last edited by Russell on Fri Feb 27, 2009 3:56 am, edited 1 time in total. |
