I did a quick ambrosia drone. The low poly model is about 570 polygons. The higher poly model is beveled and is about 1200 polygons.
In the zip are the two models and a little .avi I made for fun. Drones count as ships right? You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. |

Firstly: Looks great, if they're the right format it'd be good for them to be added.
Secondly: You've still got alts on SG? O.o _________________ Blue Dwarf wrote: Statistically, they haven't changed. Except for the beef I gave. |

O.o I have my doubts that my model would fit very well aesthetically with the other drones in the game. And yeah, all my alts are on the Silver Series of teams. Mostly because this account was still subbed when they weren't dead. Nice to see you again, Camsy. Last edited by UltravioletZergling on Wed Jan 25, 2012 10:16 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

im confused. how is this model different than the one in game? at best its minor, minor changes.
it looks nice, but it also looks virtually identical to the model already in the game. -ERMAN _________________ "I reject your reality, and substitute my own." "If I were an enzyme, I'd be DNA Helicase so I could unzip your genes." |

Well I haven't exactly seen the ingame C2 model of the ambrosia drone, I've just seen a screenshot of what was probably an alpha version of a few Quafir or Argonaut drone from the SS2 site. I guess drones can't really be improved on TOO much.

The current Ambrosia drone would be the top left drone in this screenshot:
Attachment: basedrones.jpg I like your video file and the laser beam in it looks great. For the model, it seems a little sub par compared to the existing but I'm sure Feathers will post at some point. At the moment the way our drones work is we have a bunch of generic model parts and we mix those together and add various effects / coloring. Which modeling application do you use? Yeah, those are much improved from the screenshot I saw.
I have to agree with erman that there is an uncanny similarity between mine and the ingame(minus UV textures and bump mapping). Maybe that has to do with the fact that both were modeled off the same source . I use Blender 2.61. The laser beam was made with 7000 particles, and motion blur! |

Blue line with a stretched yinyang graphic(going roughly half way each direction from exact middle of beam) on medium, high, and very high graphics.

Lasers/pulses/particle effects etc. are all done server-side.

Players can't really do anything about the look of particle effects. _________________ uhmari wrote: When i look at uhmari, I can see clearly the problems in it |

No problem, I myself was going to raise doubts that I could do anything about the particles before Battlecruiser and yourself commented. |
