To stimulate DGing in squads, and make it easier to meet new people and whatnot, I'd like to see a /LFS command (Looking For Squad). The suggestion is as follows:
You type /LFS and you get an LFS tag. If you type /LFS High DF DGs or /LFS Healing oriented engi you will get a text string attached to your LFS tag. People can then dock at station, and on the Bulletin Board page you see a list of people with the LFS tag, and their text message. You will see, for example: Character Class Level Message Scyron Engineer 3500 Looking for Oly run Daedalus Sniper 9999 Sniper looking for more snipers for random bosses N00bster FC 45 Lvl 45 fc, lvl 700 seer, lvl 1200 gunner looking for DG squad etc. These messages must probably, and sadly, be monitored by moderaters. Created a suggestion in the votin system: http://www.starsonata.com/suggestions/l ... ad_command The voting system didn't agree with my formating, and can't be edited, but I hope the message comes across anyway. _________________ Regards Scyron Captain Gusten Pengar E Fint Last edited by Scyron on Thu Sep 25, 2014 3:20 pm, edited 3 times in total. |

I absolutely adore this idea, if this was implemented [And well explained to new players] it could really be one of the most positive steps for newbies to learn as a group and progress, and not quit so fast since they'd make friends too.
Oh but yeah, I'd use this shit so hard. Once Moderators can y'know, Moderate, what is written. |

We could remove the whole Top Player list, and replace it with a LFS list. Those who care can check it on the SS site. (Or just add an entire new bar to stations that is LFS, so those who enjoy being seen on the Bulletin Board bar don't get upset.)
And yeah, good point about Moderators. _________________ Regards Scyron Captain Gusten Pengar E Fint |

Great idea, could also lead to much more difficult DG generation.

Hell yes! Maybe a whole new chat bar for this purpose only.

I have advocated several times for a "runs" chat tab that has a chat timer like Trade currently does. That would make it very easy to moderate and people would know exactly where to look if they wanted to find a DGing buddy.
I like the sentiment of the OP but there are a few flaws. For one, it is unrealistic to expect players to sit on one character waiting for their /LFS listing to be answered. More likely would be for someone to want to list their entire arsenal of run-ready characters. Also, I think we all agree that /commands are more cumbersome than a normal chat. Finally, there's the issue of moderation that was already brought up if a non-standard chat system is used. Actually, a Runs chat could finally get rid of any need for the All chat tab... _________________ Hi, I'm Anil, a long-time player turned developer. All chat is a staple of the SS community and it's how I got the couple of friends I currently have. _________________ Click the picture! |

All chat is the worst thing about all of SS, but that's a different discussion.
Thanks for the input enkelin. I like the idea of a runs chat tab, but I'd like to see it as an addition to the LFS command and LFS tab on bases/bulletin board. If you can type a customized LFS message, then you can type "/lfs 200 shmonk, 700 sniper, 1.4k engi" and list whatever chars you want to squad with. The LFS tab on bases would still just show what class/level you are logged on atm, but with a customized message you get the message out there that you have other chars too. I have to agree, though, that the more / commands we add, the more confusing it gets. I just couldn't think of any better alternatives. _________________ Regards Scyron Captain Gusten Pengar E Fint |

Squads have an issue at the moment and I am sure I am not the only person to notice it.
If the Leader of the squad leaves it, nobody becomes the next leader, and that can be extremely frustrating. _________________ |

Yes Comb, but isn't that a thing to bring up in the Bug section, or through a ticket, instead? Do you have any input on the suggestion?

I agree with this bump! (Maybe 'cause it's one of very few of my own ideas that I actually like myself.)
Like everyone else says in their suggestions - would be awesome with some dev response on this. _________________ Regards Scyron Captain Gusten Pengar E Fint |

Excellent idea which has possibly gone unnoticed.
