Less people = Less money = Less paid Devs. There were never many paid developers, however more people would obviously mean that volunteers could be commissioned or coders hired. Currently I believe most of the dev team are volunteers, who have no obligation to complete tasks within certain time frames. Most are, however, we do have I believe 3 new content developers in the past month, I'm also back from hiatus from working on SS so that makes 4. The problem of course is that content developers are different from people that can make significant changes to C2 or the Server. I can make content additions such as new AI, gear, galaxies, or tweaks to current content like I'm working on seeing what needs to be done to make the Nexus and soon after content better / scale more for players. I've also been looking through the forums to try and find content related suggestions / problems that need to be addressed. The reason we get Soon(tm) is because they are donating whatever spare time they have to develop this game, which will obviously vary on a weekly basis. That goes the same with the support team, Dia and Voom have other things going on in their lives and can only donate whatever spare time they've got to answering tickets, then reporting to Jeff / Dev team and finally resolving the issue. Here's the problem related to this thread, you're getting Soon(tm) because there simply isn't enough people with the skill set that can make the changes that you want right now. I for example am only a new programmer and I don't have the ability yet to make changes to the server / client yet. We have a few other coders that are but they have to maintain the current code, fix bugs and 'then' add new features. It's not like things aren't getting added, Ryan for example is making some very nice GUI changes to the client that have been wanted for awhile from the community in general, I'm not sure when he'll be finished yet but they're looking very nice so far. What I would ultimately say is to keep talking about your problems in the suggestion area with detailed forum threads about specific issues that can be fixed related to the client, game mechanics or content and we'll see what we can do. |

I would assume that upcoming Steam release is also using tons of dev resources.

I still wonder why all promotional videos use angled camera. It looks completely awful and noone even plays like this. I wouldn't download SS if I'd only seen screenshots and videos taken from angled camera.

SunDog is not 99% of SS players. He's probably one of five that enjoy the tilted view.

If 1% of players means at least 5 players, then there are more like 500 players, no? (well more like 450+ so that 1% of it rounds to 5). _________________ Hi, I'm Anil, a long-time player turned developer. I play with two tilts down.
I find it gives me a slightly larger view of the galaxy. |
